Let me tell you a secret… I am beyond ready for the summer to be over. I know it is a terrible thing to say and literally minutes into shoveling through that first snow, (count your blessings if you happen to be located somewhere this does not happen) I will be cursing the very thing I wished for. However, the fall brings about a fresh change and with that comes some very interesting things in entertainment.
Maybe it is the soothing breeze with the bite of a surging chill which metaphorically brings about the yearning for all things eerie and frighting, but the feeling of fall always gets me in the mood for something terrifying. With the help of Halloween, Hollywood certainly agrees. Here are a list of some things I think we should check out this Fall.
Sickly In SEPTEMBER…
September 17th: DEVIL, directed by Drew and John Erik Dowdle (“Quarantine”) and written by Brian Nelson
story by M. Night Shyamalan
When I watched the extend trailer for “Devil” while at the “Expendables” movie, I thought that it seemed like a really strong, thrilling, mysterious and most importantly, terrifying story. A group of people trapped in a high-rise elevator on their way to work. The passengers suddenly start dying one by one. Which of the unfortunate seemingly normal commuters is really the devil in disguise? As a huge fan of “The Twilight Zone” (I should hope I don’t have to explain which “Twilight Zone”) I felt that this would make an excellent half hour to an hour plot, but two hours? I am very curious how they plan on turning this story into a full blown movie but then again, this is a Shyamalan creation…
September 30th: ROB ZOMBIE, tour kicks off Rocking out in Universal City, California, Rob Zombie kicks off his nation wide tour. The tour follows his record release. Zombie calls the new music “some of the fastest and heaviest tracks we have recorded in a long, long time.” In other Zombie news, the musician/filmmaker has signed on to remake the film “The Blob” Zombie will complete the script while he’s on tour. Talk about multitasking! Zombie will be writing, producing, and directing the classic horror film.
Oozing in OCTOBER…
October 5th: GRINDHOUSE, Deluxe edition on dvd
Both “Planet Terror” and “Death Proof” have already been released on home video separately, much to the dismay of the films’ fans. We want more! Screw that grainy, old-looking, Grind house feel… I mean….
Well whatever, for those of you unsatisfied, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’ B-movie double feature will finally be re-released in a special edition Blu-ray set this October!
October 29th: SAW 3D, directed by Kevin Greutert, written Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton

It will never end! In this episode of SAW a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror on the world. YADA YADA….3 reasons I will be seeing this movie, however,
1.) I am obsessed with 3D right now. Sorry! But I am. I will watch ANYTHING if it is in 3D and I don’t doubt that SAW 3D will deliver in that category.
2.) Sean Patrick Flanery. I love him.
3.) It is Halloween after all.
Now, your 3 reasons may vary from mine.
October ANYDAY: Haunted Houses and Trick or Treating
No matter where you are I know that there will be a haunted house near by. Go there! Although I am quickly getting to that point of maturity when I am just way too big to pull of trick or treating, I will always appreciate a good haunted house. Where I am from it is an event, with tailgating, music and screams throughout. And hell, if the mood hits you throw on a mask and hit up a few houses…TRICK OR TREAT!
Nasty in NOVEMBER…
November 5th: RED HILL, directed/written by Patrick Hughes

An Australian take on American Westerns, “Red Hill” is set to be released here in the USA in November. With “True Blood” star Ryan Kwanten as the lead, this is said to be a thrilling crime film with undeniable twists and turns. The film begins with a new arrival on a small-town police force having to confront a legendary convicted murderer.
SOMETIME THIS FALL….
DEGRASSI: Quick change of Pace Returning this fall will be a new and changed Degrassi. With the wrapping of summer so did Degrassi: Boiling Points. I must admit that the start of Boiling Points was incredible however, I was not so thrilled with the end. But Degrassi never lets me down and they will be returning shortly promising all of the Degrassi drama us fans can handle. There is nothing horrifying about this news!!!
